Strip Method is a common, though invasive technique used harvest hair follicles from the donor sites. The strip method uses a single strip or multiple strips of skin that are removed from the area of the patient’s scalp where there is healthy hair growth. The strips are typically 1 to 1.5 cm wide and 15-30 cm long. The incision site is closed up with sutures and the individual hair follicular units are dissected with great care to avoid damage.
Both men and women experience hair loss and the stress that comes along with losing hair. There are many options today for stopping or slowing down hair loss and for restoring hair loss. One of these options is surgical hair transplantation. The FUT technique, or Follicular Unit Transplantation, is used to take hair from a donor site and transplant it to the area of hair loss. In addition to hair loss on the head, hair transplantation can also be used to restore hair to eyelashes and eyebrows.
